You Are Standing On Indigenous Land

Grounded in lived places and experiences, this project invites participants to interrogate the meaning of indigeneity.

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_column_text css=””]

You Are Standing On Indigenous Land uses landscape, dialogue, and participation, this ongoing project explores how claims of indigeneity, belonging, and place are constructed, contested, and reimagined.

[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”60px”]

Exploring Indigeneity

In a time when land acknowledgments risk becoming mere rituals, this project asks: what does it really mean to stand on contested land? By physically placing yourself on these images—each tied to real conversations—the project invites you to confront not just whose land this is, but how power shapes belonging.

[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”30px”]

Standing and Speaking

Like a jazz improvisation, this project invites participants to engage unscripted—lifting, rearranging, and crafting their own narrative. Sometimes I join, layering my own stories of place—but often, it’s up to you. In this act, meaning is never fixed. Instead, we co-create a shifting dialogue—questioning indigeneity, belonging, and power—together.

[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”30px”]

Unmaking Fixed Identities

Drawing from Mahmood Mamdani’s work, this project interrogates how ‘indigenous’ is rooted in colonial power. These labels were never neutral. By questioning imposed identities, the project invites you to imagine: Can we dismantle these categories, forging new futures not bound by colonial logic? No answers are given. The conversation continues with you.

[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”30px”]

Ongoing Inquiry

This project does not conclude—it evolves. As new places and voices enter, the questions grow. Like all my work, this is a continuing conversation—inviting others to stand, question, and imagine alongside me. The future remains open, and the inquiry continues with you.
